Maritime traffic is the main problem for whales, which are found in collisions with ships, their primary cause of death with an estimated 20,000 whales killed in 2020 alone. The work “Whale ship strikers” is a performative action, each cross represents a killed whale. 20,000 crosses on the canvas, each different from the other, just like my state of mind throughout the work of realization, which thus becomes a process of atonement, because as I have been repeating for years, each of us is Captain Achab.
